Penmanship

It's been almost 8 months since I last posted here. Over those 8 months, I've continuously reconsidered the fate of this website. I initially started it as a way to keep records of my thoughts, research, projects, and other information I want to be able to revisit in the future -- but more than just a way of doing such things, I thought it was the best way. Today I no longer am sure. I wonder if perhaps a website lacks the permanence and resilience that record-keeping with pen and paper boasts. But, of course, pen and paper lacks the versatility that a self-hosted self-designed website has. Yet, it bugs me that a website is no more than a bunch of electrons being shot across the airways and through cables as a complicated set of signals. A record on pen and paper is tangible; a website requires a computer to be able to access it.

Despite this crisis of thought I am actively having, the truth is I have been lazy and not keeping any records in any form during this time. I have had many thoughts and many experiences worth recording, and yet I've forced them to linger in my brain. Today, probably because of the weight of missed deadlines at work and overdue errands at home, I felt inspired to at least type some of these thoughts down, to get the ball rolling. For a while, I considered giving up on this website and forgetting continuing to learn web development, but I think I've changed my mind.
